Say, What? Police on lookout for scalp's owner

A piece of human scalp found by a woman's dog has Pasco, Wash., police knocking on doors in the town to try and find who the scalp belongs to.

Eriberta Salinas called police after her 4-month-old puppy brought home an apparent piece of scalp with reddish hair from a back yard in her neighborhood on Sunday.

Police went door to door for more than five hours asking neighbors if they had seen any red-haired strangers in the area, but came up empty-handed.

At first, investigators thought the scalp might have been stolen from a kit containing body parts for training cadaver dogs in nearby Kennewick, but that was later ruled out, and the scalp has been sent to a crime laboratory for analysis.

Capt. James Raymond said the scalp appears to be human and “We’re taking a leap that the person it belongs to probably is not alive.”

Hum, nice leap Sherlock, and keep a close eye out for an Apache uprising.
