LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - The importer of a Valentine's Day lollipop said it was voluntarily recalling the treats after metal fragments were found in at least two lollipops sold at central Florida stores.

Sherwood Brands of Maryland, which imports the candy from China, said it was recalling all of its Pokemon Valentine Cards and Pops, which have been pulled from the shelves of thousands of stores across the country.

Roughly 20 lollipops were seized at Kathleen Elementary School in Lakeland. X-rays determined that only one piece definitely had metal - what appeared to be a staple - baked inside, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

On Wednesday, a woman in nearby Mulberry told authorities she found a lollipop with a piece of metal in it in a bag of the same product. The metal appeared to be part of a razor blade, authorities said.

The sheriff's office issued a safety advisory and the Dollar General chain removed the product from its more than 8,000 stores nationwide. The Food and Drug Administration is investigating.

Judd said the two tainted lollipops were purchased from different Dollar General stores near Lakeland. He said the lollipops did not appear to have been tampered with and it appeared the metal was baked into the candy in China, where it was produced.

``Our children were put at risk of physical injury because of this,'' Judd said.

No injuries were reported and it was unclear whether the metal was intentionally placed in the candy.

The sheriff's office said Sherwood Brands was cooperating. ``They are as concerned as we are,'' Judd said.

Sherwood Brands did not return calls seeking comment Thursday but announced the recall in a statement. The company said it was recalling the cards and treats, which were sold in packages of 10 and 30.

``Sherwood Brands is advising its distribution network to remove the Pokemon branded Valentine cards and lollipops from the shelves immediately. The product was sold at retailers nationwide,'' the company said in the statement.

Dollar General, headquartered in Goodlettsville, Tenn., also pulled another Sherwood Brands product, Dog Artlist Collection Valentine Cards and Pops, from shelves. Tawn Earnest, a spokeswoman for the chain, said no other pieces of metal have been found in the manufacturer's products.

China's reputation as an exporter has taken a beating in the past year following the discovery of dangerous chemicals in products from toothpaste to toys. Last year it announced a series of measures to boost product supervision.

Seoul, February 14 : Valentines Day in South Korea means chocolates, romantic dinners and a high-tech mobile phone device that can secretly check the passion in the voice of a lover.

The 'Love Detector' service from mobile operator KTF uses technology that is supposed to analyse voice patterns to see if a lover is speaking honestly and with affection.

"We created this service because we thought people would want to know what others were feeling about them," said Ahn Hee-jung, a KTF official.

Users who speak by pointing their mobile phones at themselves for video conferences can see a 'love meter' bar on the screen of their handset during a conversation.

They later receive an analysis of the conversation delivered through text message that breaks down the amount of affection, surprise, concentration and honesty of the other speaker.

The service costs subscribers a flat fee of 1,500 won ($1.59) a month for unlimited use or can be accessed at 300 won for each call, KTF said.

"The caller is paying the money, so the information is provided only to him or her," said Ahn.

I’m sitting here reading this article about kissing and it is making me really wish my boyfriend wasn’t 1,000 miles away so I could just make out with him.

Like, a full on seventh grade make-out sesh.

I love to kiss. Which, I suppose, why a poll of 1,000 college students at a New York City school, mentioned here, isn’t really mind blowing.

Apparently we, as women, like to kiss. And we think it’s really important to boot. We use “kissing as a way of assessing the recipient as a potential partner, and later to maintain intimacy and to check the status of a relationship.”

While guys “were more willing to have sex with someone without kissing, to have sex with someone they are not attracted to and agree to have sex with someone they considered to be a bad kisser.”

Men also placed less importance on kissing as the relationship progressed. I would imagine since they putting their importance on the bumping and grinding.

The article said that men preferred “wet, tongue kisses” but didn’t say what the ladies liked. I’m guessing it’s a mixture of the tender kisses we like all the time and the passionate (and, err, wet?) kisses that come with sex?

While I was watching the movie Hitch the other night…twice, actually, since nothing else was on TV on a Saturday, I was reminded of just how important kissing is. And to me, it is important. Sure, I like my sexy time, but for the first week my boy and I started things out, we really just kissed… a lot.

And sometimes a kiss is just what you need.

Though we have still one more day left for Valentine's Day - the Valentine's Viruses are already fast propagating as usual and most of them are especially from China.

Most of the Valentine's Day viruses spread through emails and on-line chat services and off late even using social networking sites like Orkut and myspace.

There is a special warning against a Valentine's Day virus named "Vbs.Valentin.A", which comes as an attachment under the guise of Valentine's blessings for Feb 14 - so better watch out for this monster(hopefully in your Spam Box). Some of the other viruses to watch out for this season include "Worm-blebla.B" and "VBS-ILoveyou".

As precaution you must exercise utmost care when opening unsolicited emails exspecially those with Spanish characters. Also, those who love Internet shopping must take care against clicking on fake discount messages from online stores which usually aids in the spreading of more such viruses.

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Chocolate is one of the most popular Valentine's Day gifts, with more than $1 billion of it purchased just for that one romantic day alone. That chocolate may not be as sweet as you think however -- some stores seem to be recycling last year's sweets!

You can't even go grocery shopping these days without seeing shelves stacked with heart-shaped boxes, sugar cookies covered in red sprinkles, or giant kiss after kiss of chocolate sweets for your sweetheart.

Yet many of the desserts made especially for Valentine's Day might not look as nice on the inside as they do on the outside. There's a possibility that chocolate may be from old stock.

"It's something that should be glorious. It should have a luster to it. It should crack slightly when you bite it," said Brian Buckley of Manhattan's Institute of Culinary Education.

CBS 2 HD did its own investigation, purchasing six bags of Valentine's Day treats at stores around New York City. Of those six bags, five were inedible.

From the finest of truffles to candy bought in bulk, most of these products were expired and showed signs of improper storage, like melting and reshaping. Some of the chocolates had white dots or streaks, called a "bloom," which means the chocolate is stale.

"I would not eat that and I would not advise anybody to. It's just disgusting," Buckley said after seeing the results.

And though you won't get food poisoning, the rotten chocolate just may upset your stomach and certainly a romantic evening.

"It's not saying 'I love you,' it's saying, 'Oops!'" Buckley said.

Buckley was shocked that store shelves could be stacked with so much bad chocolate just days before the sweetest of holidays.

And CBS 2 HD's investigation grew even more appalling. A luscious looking giant Hershey kiss we purchased had some secret admirers inside: an infestation of worms.

CBS 2 HD went back to the store where it was purchased, Nut City on 2nd Avenue, to show the manager, who said they aren't responsible because the candy is purchased from another company. The store, however, did agree to take the rest off the shelves.

Chocolate makers advise to check for expiration dates. Chocolate has about a year's shelf life. Still, many stores don't enforce expiration dates, so it's up to you. If the chocolate is sub-standard, take it back and demand a refund.
